I have been sew very busy this past week crafting. I thought that I should share all of my craftiness with all of you. Hopefully you will be inspired to make something crafty too...

Pumpkins made out of 2X4's...

I saw this tutorial for 2X4 Pumpkins at
Sassy Sanctuary and just had to make them too.

Nesting box stand...

I have been having trouble with my hens kicking all of the bedding out of the nesting box resulting in cracked and broken eggs. The solution was to make a stand for my nesting box. The hope is that the only reason to jump up and enter the nesting box is to lay an egg, and not empty the box of all the bedding. With the help of my Uncle Peter as my personal carpenter this is what he came up with, and I love it!

The last 2 days I have found cracked eggs either because of lack of calcium or because they are laying eggs on a hard surface. This is the solution that I have decided on. I went to Lowe's and purchased some indoor/outdoor carpet on a role for $2.79 per linear foot x 3'.

I purchased one foot and cut up the carpet to fit the inside of the nesting boxes.

This is what the nesting box with Indoor/Outdoor carpet installed looks like. Then I covered the carpet with wood shavings for added comfort and padding.

A unique way to present a baby shower gift...

I attended my friend Marissa's baby shower yesterday and I wanted to make a unique baby shower gift. So I decided to make onesie cupcakes with hair bow frosting, and a baby sock corsage of roses. I wrapped them all up in a cupcake box and tied it with a bow. I really liked the way it turned out. Marissa loved it so much so doesn't want to unwrap them. This is my version of what I learned...

The finished product presented in a pale pink cupcake box and tied up with a bow ready to be presented to the recipient.

Fabric Origami Christmas ornaments...

Our quilt guild is hosting a Christmas ornament exchange to be held at our annual Christmas potluck. I found this great pattern for a fabric folded star last year and thought it would be perfect as a Christmas ornament. As most of you know I don't buy my Christmas presents I make them.

First you have to make it out of paper for practice and to use as a reference.

Then you make it out of your choice of fabric stiffened with Stiffy Fabric Stiffener (can be purchased at Michael's for $6.99). Don't forget to use a coupon.

It's a Boy...Baby Shower with my Kaiser girls...

My co-workers threw me a baby shower...It was so nice visiting with my friends and getting caught up with all of the recent gossip. They told jokes (mostly about me), gossiped, and we just laughed... awww I miss you my friends...

Kailtyn's 1st attempt at ironing, ever...She is using her seam guide to measure her seams and make sure they are straight. OMG! "Watch out!" "Don't leave the iron down while you are measuring, your going to start a fire!' I think I am going to have a heart attack! Lord help me! BTW the burn mark on the ironing board is not from her. Thank God!

Today is the day I have been talking about for a long time. I keep saying I am going to start a Blog, someday...well the day has come! Thanks to Charming Chatter for just the kick in the pants that I needed so that I can participate in her quilt along...

I love Blogs and I have been an avid blog follower for about 2 years now. I love all of the inspiration, creativity, tips, and tricks that I have found in Blog Land. I hope that I too can provide you with the same.

Now a little about me..

I have been married to a wonderful man named Tadashi for 10 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters Kaitlyn age 9, and Kimiko age 3.

We are expecting another special addition to our family in December and then our family will be complete. I work as an LVN at a fantastic local hospital designed to make you THRIVE. Friday was my last day of work so that I can start maternity leave just in time to miss flu season. My apologies to my co-workers...

StampinUp, and GiGi Hill handbags. I have been a member of the Inland Empire Quilter's Guild for about 4 years now, the last 2 years I have been the Newsletter Editor. This year our family started our very own Organic raised bed garden,

including backyard chickens (hens).

So far it has been a huge success.

We have canned tomatoes with garlic & basil and bread & butter pickles.

Our hens started laying organic eggs about a month ago that we have been able to share with friends. Believe it or not chickens make great pets too. Our girls love collecting the eggs and holding the chickens. This has provided our children with a great science project right in our own backyard by teaching them where their food comes from. I also belong to a stamp club by Lisa Kim at Stamp Ink Diva. We meet at her studio every other month where Lisa shows us what's new in stamping, teaches us new techniques, we trade cards, eat, and mingle. This club provides me with a much needed girls night out with great friends, not to mention the fantastic projects that we make too. Thanks Lisa!

It is my desire to teach my children the lost art of quilting, sewing, crafting, and canning so that one day they will pass it on to their children. Kaitlyn our oldest daughter will be starting her 1st sewing lesson next weekend in a Kids Club environment that meets once a month. She is so excited and I am too.

Now let's get this Blog started already...
